Riess LeMieux Welcomes M. Ali Barnes to the Firm

Riess LeMieux is pleased to welcome Ali Barnes to the firm.  Ali brings to the firm experience in construction law, commercial litigation, employment and labor law, transactional law, and insurance law.  She has previously served as a prosecutor and as an Assistant City Attorney in Mobile, Alabama.  She also has worked for a family business on complex estate, trust, and insurance matters.

Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University and also has a Structural Engineering degree from Clemson University. Proposed Legislation Due to COVID-19

The Louisiana Legislature has joined a number of other states—including New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Ohio—in introducing legislation that would require business interruption insurance to retroactively cover business losses attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Riess LeMieux Client Prevails in $50-Plus Million Bid Dispute at Louisiana Supreme Court

On December 10, 2019, the Louisiana Supreme Court made final a ruling in favor of a firm client for the award of the Convention Center Linear Park Project estimated at $50 million.  In May 2018, the firm successfully secured the award of the public project after defeating a legal challenge by an unsuccessful bidder at trial. The firm prevailed on both rounds of appeal, concluding with the Supreme Court’s denial of the losing bidder’s supervisory writ application.
