On Friday, August 13, OSHA issued new guidance to employers recommending that fully vaccinated employees continue to wear masks in the workplace ““in areas of substantial or high community transmission,” particularly for industries with prolonged close contact between workers and non-workers. The OSHA guidance “emphasizes that vaccination is the optimal step to protect workers and encourages employers to engage with workers and their representatives to implement multi-layered approaches to protect unvaccinated or otherwise at-risk workers from the coronavirus.” The OSHA guidance is not legally binding.
