Marguerite K. Kingsmill  |  Of Counsel

Marguerite K. Kingsmill is of counsel with the firm.  She began the practice of law as an associate with Milling, Benson, Woodward, Hillyer and Pierson in October, 1981.  In 1989, she founded Kingsmill Riess, LLC.  The firm provides a full range of legal services to a diverse mix of local, regional, national and international clients.  Marguerite has handled transactional and litigation matters, both maritime and non-maritime, with an emphasis in complex commercial, class actions, construction and bankruptcy litigation and gaming law, major offshore and refinery related litigation and intellectual property disputes, including trademark and infringement issues.  Marguerite areas of practice include construction litigation, product liability, marine and maritime property damage litigation, insurance defense, coverage disputes, and bad faith, and environmental law.  

For the past several years, Marguerite has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers across the nation and Louisiana Super Lawyers.  Marguerite is an adjunct Professor at Tulane Law School teaching classes in Trial Advocacy.  She has served for ten years on the Board of the Academy of the Sacred Heart established in 1867, an independent all-girls school with students from nursery through 12th grade.  For the last three years, she has served as Chairman of the Board.  Marguerite is also active in the Network of Sacred Heart, an association of twenty-one Sacred Heart schools across the United States and 150 schools internationally.  Marguerite is actively involved in many of the network’s philanthropic endeavors.
